(5/5) this carol’s daughter mimosa hair honey is a staple product!

do you like this hair honey? what say you? [ratings]

so i have to start off this review with a little confession. i purchased this pomade in 2009 but didn’t really use it until 2010. :o

yeah, i know. it’s the tyrone biggums in me – blame it on the pj urges!

carol’s daughter has gotten a lot of flack from naturals – especially naturals that have been using her products “before the formulas changed” – so i’m told.

i’m a newbie to carol’s daughter’s products (seeing as i’m only using two things from the line – the healthy hair butter review on the way soon) and cannot say that i noticed any differences in product ingredients, but i will say that i like this honey.

i like everything about it…now. at first i was a little skeptical about it since it’s in a “grease” type form, which is why i used it once and threw it in the back of my closet do die a slow product hype death. but when i recently rediscovered it, i realized that this healthy hair oil mixture is far from being a grease (it’s the beeswax that gives this oil mixture a solid consistency) or even acting anything similar to a grease.

ingredients: Corn Oil, Lavender, Rosemary, Nettles, Red Roses, Sage, Blue Malva, Marigolds, Red Clover, Beeswax, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Annatto Seeds, Alkanet Root For Color, Essential Oil Of Sweet Orange, Fragrance.

description: This herbal-infused pomade controls frizzies and adds luster to all types of hair while delivering a sweet citrus scent. With protective alkanet root and annatto seeds for color, this pomade is excellent to tame and soften permed hair.

i like to use this when i cornrow my hair for protective styling. after wetting my hair or right after washing, i add this on my hair along with my carefree curl gold to seal in moisture. i don’t use it all the time – only when i’m going to do braids/cornrows.

it does not leave my hair feeling greasy – the oils melt happily into your hair and scalp – and the smell is a beautiful unisex citrus. it seals in my moisture WONDERFULY and tames fly aways as promised. it does add a lasting luster to my hair and makes my hair very, very soft.

i don’t really use this on twist outs – though i have before – and used too much which made my hair greasy – so do watch out because you can use too much of this stuff; i’m a little heavy handed thought.

if you are a grease user and are on the search for products that have a grease-like consistency (it’s really something about “greasing” your hair and scalp that lots of women find appealing – myself included – i think it’s just the cultural tradition of it all) to find as a replacement for grease, don’t sleep on this mimosa hair honey!

it’s a bit pricey, but well worth it because it will last a long time since a little goes a very long way.

have you tried carol’s daughter mimosa hair honey? how did you like it or not like it?

I bought it a week or so ago and couldn’t resist! Like you said the culture/tradition of the grooming offed a familiar comfort and much to my surprise the application was gratifying! I love how it melted and offered instant shine. I’ll confess im one of those eco styler gel fiends and this is a great alternative to giving my edges that slick wet look without it actually being wet. I just love shiny hair!!!! …and this just does it for me!!!
