if you don’t have one of these, then shame on you! (unless you own something just as good, then you get a kinky girl pass…)
when i say i own one comb (well not really; but all the others i use on my 5lb meatloaf) i’m speaking about my jilbere. my love, my darling, my baby daddy of combs!
who gets geeked up about combs? i do! okay, i confess, i’m a comb nerd. but ya’ll, if your hair is as kinky as mine is, then the right comb makes a world of difference, no?

Ideal for use when hair is wet. Nylon ball tips help comb glide easily through hair without damaging scalp. Jilbere de Paris has offered superior, top quality products for over 30 years and continues to set the benchmark for professional styling products.
this jilbere de paris shower comb is heaven sent. it glides through soaking wet hair like a dream and i also use it mid week when i detangle my hair while damp (i never comb wet – first rule of the kinky girl).
pros:
the comb is big, but LIGHT so easy to handle
the tips are covered and soft and massage the scalp well when passing through
it does NOT rip your hair out
excellent for knots and tangles big and small
it’s a flexible plastic so no need to fear breaking this baby
you can but it for milk money at $1.50 <— HELLO??!!!
cons:
100% NONE
if you are a type 4 and are looking for a comb that will work on your hair (thoug ALL textures would benefit from this comb) then look no further, you’ve found it.
i use this comb when i get in the shower, separate my hair into four sections apply tons of conditioner to each section, wet the sections under the shower head and then comb through with with my shower comb. i cannot express enough through this post how much this comb pulls out tons of shed hair and eases through my knots. this + a good slip conditioner = chile, it might have you jumping up and down IN the shower!
so ladies, if you’ve been looking for THE COMB, the one that leaves hair in tact and glides through your hair with ease (as much ease as one can have with type 4 hair) then look no further.
don’t ever say you didn’t at least pick up one good tip from this blog. :)
can’t get your hands on the jilbere de paris shower comb? conair makes this identical knock off, the icy pastels shower comb but i’ve yet to try it. the only thing i notice from the pictures is that it’s not as thick as the jilbere, so i don’t know if it’s snapable/bendable. it’s also a bit more money at almost $2.00. see comment from jasmine below – not even worth it, it’s gonna fall apart, just get a jilbere de paris shower comb! :)
so go get yaself a jilbere de paris shower comb and let me know how you like it. report back and share.
and if you already have this comb, do we like?

I have been looking all over the web for this and can’t find it for sale. Does anyone have a good online source?
I just got one of these at Sally’s for my one year old baby girl’s 4a/b hair… but I steal it everyday to use on my 3b hair! :) I love it!
Do you all know if it’s still being sold?? Its not available on amazon.com or sally’s website anymore…
I love this comb. I have one for my purse and one for home. Can’t do my hair without them.
I love my Jilbere comb! I’ve used the Conair comb before, but over time, all the little rubber tips came off. I don’t have that problem with the Jilbere…it’s a staple for life!
