“meh”, that’s what i would say if i had to sum up in one word my feelings about the denman brush. this thing rips my hair out and you know what, i like my hair IN my folicules thank you very much!
i ran out to buy this brush years back when i noticed other naturals with my texture speaking about how they liked it.
so of course i though i was bananas when it didn’t work for me. “why is this not gliding through my hair?”, “what am i doing wrong?” i thought, “why is this thing ripping out my hair?!”
that was enough for me to put the denman down for good.

ummm, thickher hair??? it’s all lies i tell you, lies!!!!!!! it should say thicker hair WITHOUT kinks.
i don’t like the denman because of the reasons i’ve stated: it rips my hair out when i try to brush medium sections, it does not glide through my hair and it rips out my hair! :(
i can only use the denman on SMALL/TINY sections of my hair to detangle, and who detangles like that anyway?? i’d be detangling all day. no thanks!
it does do a great job on my ends, so i will give it that much. tiny sections and ends – this brush is not the end all be all for me.
some ladies have figured out a way to modify the denman brush, and though i have not tried the modified version (taking out a few rows of the teeth) i just don’t like this thing as is — because that’s how it’s SUPPOSED TO WORK, right? as IS?
sorry ladies, i just can’t give the denman d3 classic styling brush the kinky girl stamp of approval.
but what about you? do you like the denman d3 brush? [ratings]

My son has 4c hair and I use the Denman D41, it doesn’t break the hair. I have to use it on wet hair with shea butter mixed with castor oil, avo oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, rosemary oil and argan oil. I leave this for 30 to 60 minutes covered with a beauty cap.
I’m with Mab. I only use this in the shower with my hair soaked and with conditioner slapped on all over. This definitely will not work on dry hair. But I use it to detangle in the shower and when I get out and put on some good leave in conditioner (Cantu mixed with JBCO and olive oil). My hair HAS to be soaking wet and with some conditioner, but when it dries, it’s beautiful what it does for the curls. BTW, I have a mixture of 3b, 3c and 4a hair.
any ladies willing to give their denman brush away? :D

@Jasmine, Nikki and Mab: You are all correct about how to use it. I also use the denman brush after I have detangled my really wet hair, full of conditioner, with a wide tooth comb. It helps in removing shed hair and the curls look nicer when dry.
