I used this for the first time this past weekend. The jury is still out for me. I shampooed my hair with shampoo. I then added the Kinky Curly Knot Today because I have major tangles! I think my hair is 3c but I am not a hair labeler like that so I'm not sure about that. Anyway, I separated my hair into 4 sections to prep for my braid out and applied the Cantu. I probably used about 2 quarter size helpings to each section. The next morning I had bouncy waves. Each night since then I have applied more to my dry hair (misted with a tad of water and olive oil) and rebraided. I have no visible white residue and my hair is soft. Is does look a little dry though but could be the fact that I am using it as a styling aid. Not sure how to handle it yet I suppose. Reading this review helps so thank you much! Love your site!

I just tried this product for the first time and I would like to say thanks for the tips! I have EXTREMELY coarse, thick hair and I'm currently growing out a relaxer. It seems like nothing can keep my hair quenched. I conditioned with Herbal Essences' Hello Hydration for about 6 hours and then followed with a little Cantu and the difference I felt in my hair was awesome! I didn't have to fight and it was much, much softer. You said that this product does not work well with others; can you recommend a daily moisturizer to use? Thanks!

I love this stuff!!! Walmart has it and so does Target. Walmart raise the price to $5.97, but Target is $4.84, at least in Indianapolis. I've read that Cantu does not work well with other products that contain protein, thus the curdling. I've had no problems with it mixing with other products I use: Herbal Essences None of Your Fizziness and Long Term Relationship split End Protector(?), Any straight oil, Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter, Aussie Leave In Hair Insurance, Mizani Curl Stretch. On another note, I recently read a review about Elasta's Mango Butter. The reviewer noted that it made her hair hard after using it for a few days. I noticed the same and thought it was the Cantu. I stopped using them together and learned it was the Elasta. I've stopped using it so often and the hardness has disappeared.

I think it is becuase, if you put product on the new growth you will end up putting a lot of product on your scalp which could cause irritaion and itching making you feel like you just got to wash your hair only to find out after you wash, it stills itch! then you have to use a non-akaline shamnpoo to remove build up of product on your hair...

I like this stuff! I have really dry hair, I had it colored and it was not a good job so my hair was further damaged, I tried several other product kits..some costing more than $60.00; in 30 days I spent $130.00,I was trying too find a product that would make my hair wavy, curly without making my hair crunchy which meant I had to wash my hair every two days.... I was at walmart and I got caught in a Tulsa,Oklahoma summer rain, which means it was warm shower and my hair was ruied I looked a hot mess for real. I saw this product and decieded I would try it but if it did not work then I would be making up my mind to do the "big chop" or have my hair twisted (dreds) well I tried it, it seemed like I was putting too much on my hair and I was scared it was going to turn white, but I made up my mind to follow the instructions, and I was quite surprised! my hair dranked it like water on a dry land two days later and I only have to apply a little on my damped hair, and whola! I "have good hair" moist and soft curly coils. Oh and one more thing day 3 and no white stuff...

I got just some weeks ago and this works like magic! I put it in after I co-wash or deep condition and it leaves my hair super soft and moisturized, my curls are more defined and less frizzy. Plus it smells great!

Me personally, I cannot use Cantu... I am protein sensitive and everytime I use it.. My hair is stiff as a board and it so hard for me to detangle when it is in my hair and it is more stiff for a few days (no bueno).. I just stopped using it.. But BEWARE if your curlies are protein sensitive...
