in FASHION

known in the natural world to some as the woman with “the hair i want!”, it’s no wonder lot of naturals have probably at one time wanted to be like tracee ellis ross, and after looking at her mane it’s easy to see why, if not only for her hair. the big curls and the healthy shine – it’s truly lust worthy.

but tracee’s fashion style is just as covetable and inspirational as tracee marches to her own drum and has a mind of her own when it comes to her wardrobe and day to day style. her hair is untamable and so is she.

set to star in a new bet drama that i will surely be watching, tracee continues to work her way through hollywood with a closet full of vintage clothes, fly bags and hair that is supremely boss.

tracee’s hair…

in november 2005 tracee told black hair and braids magazine:

i wash my hair once a week. i use a couple different shampoos. once a month, I use the aveda shampure and at the same time i’ll also rinse with the rene furterer vinegar rinse. but if you don’t want to spend that much you can use apple cider vinegar and cut it with water. your hair will shine, but you can’t use it all the time because it will dry your hair out. on a regular basis, i use the gold wells conditioning shampoo.

on a weekly basis, one of my beauty secrets is that i steam. i go to one of the korean day spas. i fill my hair up with gold well kerasilk conditioner. that conditioner is fantastic for conditioning hair under a heating cap, which I do if I can’t get into a steam room. with the kerasilk, your hair will not curl up. my hair gets so soft that it doesn’t curl up, so i have to use another conditioner. the other is very expensive but you get a lot for your money. It’s called hair mayonnaise. it is a growth enhancer. It’s an organic company. It comes in a big tube. it’s a really good deep conditioner. then, when I want my best hair I’ll use denman d-4 brush or the salon industrial heavy brush. I am an advocate of denman brushes. it is a rubber brush. the older it gets the better because it has gotten softer. i also use the cherry almond bark conditioner by aveda (for a cheaper and comparable version of this conditioner you can try naturelle aura cherry almond bark conditioner). i mix with a little of the deep penetrating conditioner from aveda for the smell.

i separate my hair into six sections in order to brush it out, so I don’t break my hair. and you start from the bottom. i do this in the shower. i put more conditioner in my hair, shake my hair so my curls can find each other, and take my hair up with a big clip, leave it in for a while, then, i turn off all the hot water and turn up the cold water. put the cold water on low pressure because the high pressure will break up all the curls that just found each other. the low pressure cold water keeps it shiny and keeps the curl.

tracee’s makeup…

you often see tracee with one of two faces, a very neutral face, or her neutral face with her popping red or pink lip. and she is right on target as both a red or nude lip is a classic look. tracee pairs down her pout in natural and next to nothing shades.

i love the latter, not because her neutral face is not pretty, because i’m a neutral face girl myself, but because her red lips are glam and classic and look great with her sense of style. her red lips fit her perfectly.

to get her look you could try deep red lips, dark kohl lined eyes and a buffed out face that looks natural with mineral makeup and not heavy and weighted down with foundation.

tracee’s closet…

<

many a women would love to be able to raid tracee’s closet to get an eyeful of all of her treasures – new and old, vintage and trendy, then and now.

prada clutches, heavy, chunky statement necklaces and full skirts are all pieces that you’ll see tracee rocking. her style ranges from classic to eclectic and her mix is very reflective of a laid back personality. dressed up when need be, turned off and relaxed when not.

and just like any girl would, tracee has a great collection of nice accessories to go with her closet stuffed with clothes. she seems to love clutch bags and bangles and pretty earrings that are not too large or heavy, less her beloved oversized hoops, pearl drops, natural stones and diamond studs.

as for her arm candy, over sized, and statement can describe how tracee likes her pieces. if you are going to do it, do it big and do it right like big over sized handbags, wide equestrian belts and vintage style dresses and blazer with embellished and delicate but strong details.

when tracee does the red carpet, she does it right and it’s always top notch.

okay, tracee is not joan clayton, that’s for sure, and though most of us miss ole’ joan (wipes a tear), it’s undeniable that the fictional character and the real life persona have very similar ways of dressing. tracee’s choice of dark nails and cocktails is edgy and fun, just like joan would have dressed. a big bold, in your face, ring as your one jewelry piece of choice is never a bad idea.

tracee likes her casual days, and dressed down with a classic bag is never the wrong way to go. she’s brave enough to pair the chunkiest, funkiest heels with a blazer and a hermes. hats off to tracee for wearing what she wants, how she wants, when she wants!

gucci and dolce & gabbana dresses. vintage nikes. balenciaga bags. she redid the layout of the house to accommodate her passion for fashion, making her bathroom smaller and her closet bigger—with ample space to hang dresses and spread out jewelry.

“i’m not a fan of drawers,” she says. “i like to see all my clothes.” source

who can forget tracee’s vixen cover and her boss green dress? i’ve loved this cover ever since i first laid eyes on it.

her green dress, dark nails, big hair and serious stature screens diva! i love it!

the fly girl with the big donk and and boss style just won’t quit. peep tracee work her magic in kanyee’s touch the sky video.

the 37-year-old former ‘girlfriends’ star is set to produce and star in a new bet pilot called “reed between the lines”. according to eurweb, tracee “will portray dr. carla reed, a busy psychiatrist, wife, and mom struggling to balance her job, and her happy but chaotic home life.” be sure to check her out!
