{at home hair spa} quick and clarifying natural shampoo

in at home hair spa, HAIR LUST

not all of us love traditional shampoo and some of us can’t even get with the sls free products that are flooding the shampoo market. but if you want to clarify your kinky or curly natural hair and get a good old fashioned washing, you can make your own quick and easy clarifying natural shampoo and here’s how.

in a blender, combine:

1 ounce olive oil
1 egg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

blend well and use as you would a regular regular shampoo. this homemade, natural alternative will leave your hair soft and supple. if you have thick hair, just double or triple the amounts, eyeballing the mixture as you add it to the blender. be sure to use immediately as this homemade shampoo will spoil and must be made day of.

because this homemade natural shampoo won’t be as thick as regular shampoo, a way to apply is to wet your hair and mist this mixture on using a spray bottle. once you have applied all of the shampoo, massage it through your hair thoroughly, being sure to cleanse your scalp as well, and then rinse clean with lukewarm water as to not cook the egg.

lachelle – i’m so glad you liked it!! all of the home hair spa recipes are so fun to try and work as well and sometimes better than traditional products.

your comment makes me think should start putting a disclaimer though. i also have a friend who has bone straight hair ask me if she could try some of the recipes. i think because this blog is targeted to textured hair, people outside of the curly – kinky hair texture range may think they cannot use any of the tips, products or recipes on this blog, which more often than not is not the case.

I do not have kinky or curly hair, but I tried this anyway. I must say, it makes my hair look and feel much better than any shampoo I’ve ever used. Thanks for posting this! :)
