November 2010

i never wore my hair out when i big chopped. i grew my hair for about a year and then i chopped it off. it was too shocking for me to get over quickly because i felt it didn’t go with my face shape so i wore a sew in until it was long enough for me to wear out.

the key to swanging hair when you want to wear a pressed out style is clean but not stripped hair. stripped hair will swing but is no good for your hair, so to make sure that your hair is uber moisturized but not with products on the heavy side, you can do this pre-press wash to get your hair blinging but not stripped of your moisture.

if you are a fan of the wash and go, then you may be looking for ways to update your quick out-of-the-shower hairstyle. add some bobbi pins to the sides of your fro pushed into the top of you head and you’ve got yourself a wash and go frohawk. [click to continue…]

this sexy brian lichtenberg one shoulder dress is a popular celebrity style that comes in many vibrant colors. the color and style that i love the most is this red burn out velvet. the padded shoulder and skin tight fit of this body-hugging dress is perfect for a night out on the town or for your boggie down holiday parties. after showing it in this post, i received so many requests about this adder bite ring. so here it is ladies. it features a gigantic, venomous reptile, spanning two fingers to sink its teeth into the third. this gothic ring is hand cast from fine english pewter and in many cases, including other high quality materials and finishes.

i don’t think it’s a big secret that hair textures and the way that some people perceive them walk a fine line of discrimination. i have my own historical take on why this is and though i don’t want to go into a dissertation in this post, i’m, sadly, not surprised.
while browsing the tube, i ran across this video where bronzqt talks about how a salon owner she met courted her for her patronage though the owner charges more money to do kinky hair versus “biracial hair.”
hmmm…i see a problem here. first up [click to continue…]

HAIR LUST
never is a strong word. when i was little, i’d get into arguments with my big brother over him asking me to do something utterly ridiculous like polish his shell toe adiddas with that old school shoe polish. you know, the one with the sponge applicator that when used, put more paint on the floor [...]

PRODUCTS + REVIEWS
(1/5) disappointment, disappointment. well, where do i start? a couple of weeks ago, a natural girlfriend told me she had picked up some miss jessie’s stretch silkening cream and that she wanted to give me some to try because she didn’t really like it and wasn’t impressed. i’m not really a fan of miss jessie’s [...]
