if you’ve ever paid close attention to all of the natural and organic hair products you use, you may have noticed that they contain marshmallow – like the infamous knot today. the first time i saw this and before i was into hair product ingredients as much as i am now, i was surprised. i eat marshmallows like candy, so i was thinking, i know they are not talking about the puffy, sugary stuff!
and that is right, marshmallow root is a herb that is mucilage rich. it’s the root of the marshmallow plant that provides the slip like conditioner which helps to detangle hair. as an added bonus marshmallow root is anti inflammatory which helps to alleviate dry scalp and dandruff. argan, argan, argan. everywhere i go, i hear naturals and women who relax talking about this supposedly miracle oil. normally, i’d be on it like green on grass, but since i’m backed up in my product review stash i’m holding out for now. i’m shutting my tyrona biggums down for a minute and she’s in rehab.

“i know you mad, but so what, i wish you best of luck, now i’m finna throw them deuces up!”
the deuce. so effective when you don’t even have the words. i chuck the deuces daily – it’s my way of saying hello, but i remember while i was transitioning to natural and i had naysayers – some who thought they were doing me due diligence – coming out of the wood work like zombies in resident evil to lament about how they thought i’d never last or do “well as a natural” seeing as my “grade of hair” was “bad.”
i’ve not only been natural since 2003 but i’ve been able to get to a place where going back to relaxed is laughable, so i’m throwing up the deuces to the folks who thought i wouldn’t make it as well as to the relaxer companies who could care less about my sodium hydroxide-induced scalp sores.
