so here i am, holding tight to my words to share a bit more of my world and what better way to kick this off than talking about one of my favorite subjects – shoes! i’ve been living between l.a. and n.y. for the last month; i sit in bed in brooklyn as i type this, and because i’ve been doing SO much traveling, i’ve found myself in need of new outfits constantly. during #nyfw i attended the rock and republic/kohl’s show, which i loved by the way – and i wanted to show up and show out. anything with “rock” in the title calls for an edgy and chic outfit, no? so i had to pull out the big guns which came in the form of these bawse and uber affordable, crystal studded booties.

two days before i had to be in n.y. i was scrambling for shoes. nothing in my closet would do and i wanted something more edgy. i’ve been going through a feminine and soft phase for a while so i have tons of ballet flats and flats with bows but nothing with edge that i wanted to wear. i was on a budget though, a tight one, so i knew i had to keep a sharp focus on what i wanted. i walked into a store and bam, saw these booties that would make my outfit just right. i’ve only worn them once – the night of the fashion show, but they were very comfortable until i hit that, “i’ve been walking/standing/on my feet 4.5 inches off the ground for 4 hours” mark which is an average point for me so these will go down as comfortable shoes.

my outfit was simple which brings me back to that tight buget thing…i had to pick up my outfit the day before i left l.a. (no pressure!) and i went everywhere to no avail. i was even willing to drop up to $300 for a shirt and jacket when a little voice said, “this is your sales and discount godmother. put that overpriced stuff down and go to forever 21.” as obedient as i always am, i obliged and what do you know, i was able to pick up this tuxedo cut satin blazer ($37) which they had just gotten in and wasn’t even yet on the floor and this sheer blue and black strip shirt. i wore a black bra underneath and my own black fitted vest that i picked up years ago. be careful if you want to pick up this exact blazer because they carry this similar blazer but it is not as fitted as the blazer i have has a much cleaner and tailored cut.

when it comes to dressing, it may look like i’m doing a lot, but actually, i’m a big believer in french girl styling it up. you know, wear the same classic basics like jeans and a blazer but change up things like your shirt and shoes and accessories to make the outfit look new. and that’s exactly what i did. i plan on keeping this blazer in rotation because it looks like it is constructed very, very well and i’m happy i picked it up because the one i left with the sales lady to hold for me as i walked over to f21 was $250.

okay, insert sad face here. these awesome booties ($69) are not available to buy online but should be by next week but as soon as they are i’ll let you know when they are up – and they will ship for free since they are just over $50. there are not many national retail locations – as this is a west cost store, but if you are near a shiekh shoes store you can get them in the store. i ended up buying two pair while i was in the store and also picked up a pair of these blue spiked wedges also. i’ll be sure to take photos in these as well because the online pictures do them absolutely no justice. i used to not be a booties girl, but i’m really feeling my most recent purchases. i feel a spree coming on!
