if you were a child of the 80′s then you are probably all too familiar with “jem and them” – the first rock out girl power band way before there was a tlc or destiny’s child in full 2D animation. before beyonce and the girls or left eye, chili and t-boz, there was jem and the holograms. i used to love this cartoon as a kid and wanted holographic hair, guitars, clothes, you name it.

as an adult i can still respect my love for jem and the girls and though i no longer want chrome streaked hair, i do still have a fondness in my heart for holographic things. obviously so does the rest of the fashion world because holograms are about to explode this year, with the iridescent patter showing up on everything so what better way to relive our childhood nostalgia than to jump on this short train.

we like the idea of starting with a great holographic clutch and a modern day jem piece, like this “april” clutch with 14-karat light gold plated hardware but without the bubble gum overkill. though if you are wearing this bawse, asymmetrical black wool blend blazer then you could walk out of the house with a plastic bag for a purse and no one would notice because they’d be staring at your coat hunti! peep the funnel neck and top button fastening, and those full length sleeves and an asymmetrical hem. it’s times like these when street walker takes on a different meaning – something like, a woman who walks to street so everyone can see her fly clothes.

the entire look is fun, bold and hardly unnoticeable. this would be a great first date outfit for the winter because even if the man shows up and just doesn’t quite get the purse, he won’t spend too much time confused because that asymmetrical coat will have him in a daze. wear this and slay ‘em!

I love the sleekness of the shirt despite the detail. I works well with the jeans. *saving picture now*
