faith is a l.a. by way of texas curly girl slash producer slash model who keeps her purse clean and simple. when we asked her to share the goods she wasn’t sure if she had enough inside, “my purse is kinda boring!” we’d like to think that clean and simple is chic too and we are definitely big fans of her over-sized chole tote. take a look and decide for yourself.

1. White Iphone. “I just got this a few weeks ago and I hate it! I don’t know how to use it. I think I may go back to the Droid!”

2. Silver Compact. “I was in my sorority sister’s wedding and she gifted all of the bridesmaids with this engraved silver compact mirror. I has my initials on it. It’s so pretty.”

3. Chole Handbag. “My mom gave me this Chole bag. I acutally had another bag before this one from her as well but it was [click to continue…]

i love my friends. i’m very lucky to be surrounded by a group of women who truly know the meaning of confidence. when we get together, we spend a lot of our timing laughing and just relaxing and within those moments we learn a lot from each other. we are all very different and very much alike in many ways. but one main thing we all have in common is our desire to remain fierce and work what we’ve naturally got.

i’m not one to take myself too seriously and my friends and i can laugh and smile ourselves out of any awkward situation. we also understand that being confident can also mean that you bounce back after walking out of the restroom with your skirt tucked in your underwear. it’s a great moment to laugh off the embarassment and keep it moving.

my keys to staying effortlessly fierce without a lot of pomp and circumstance are just five simple steps that i follow to work my confidence without compromise or taking myself to seriously. [click to continue…]

i think most women, including myself, would spend as much as they could on skin care. i also think a lot of women, including myself again, have dropped a stack or two on skin care products to get clear and healthy skin forgoing those cute shoes that just went on sale, just to be able to afford a bottle of product that you hope works.

i don’t know about you, but i can spend hours reading beauty product bottles in the drug store or higher end beauty stores. i used to constantly be on the lookout for the next thing to help my skin battle through breakouts and unevenness. i actually prefer pretty shoes over spending a grip on skin care so when i was afforded the opportunity to try the new ambi® skincare regimen i was excited. one, because ambi is a brand that i’ve known since i was a cheer-leading, debate teaming and french clubbing high schooler and two, the brand is still affordable and well within my reach.

after trying the products for a couple of weeks i have to say that [click to continue…]

“My animals are my two bangle mix kitties but they fetch like dogs and steal my socks!” Kris of The Kris Bliss says as we talk on the phone. She says this with a laugh as we settle in for our interview. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Kris received two degrees in songwriting and music business. “I love going to concerts,” she says, “And watching old school movies like the Five Hear Beats and the Temptations.” As for her natural hair she has no regrets or apologies to dish out. “I saw it on TV of all places and that was that!”

KISFORKINKY: what brought you the world of natural? what’s your story?
KRIS: when i was in 10th grade, i saw all of these girls on t.v. with big natural hair. from that, i decided that i wanted to go natural so i told my mom and of course she tried to talk me out of it. this is coming from a woman who didn’t get her first perm until she was [click to continue…]

after i shared my post with my bare skin, i got comments and emails asking me to “hurry up” and share my regimen. i can understand why as i used to have adult acne and actually today i have a small whitehead on the right side of my face. but unlike before, i know exactly why it’s there.

i have to be honest and say that i only gained control of my skin when i started to eat right. now matter how much i spent on the next miracle product, nothing worked over the long term until i started juicing and eating my veggies – and a LOT of them. i ignored the usda’s food pyramid (i have my feelings on that and will not share them here) and decided to do what was smart – have fruits and vegetable be the base of my personal food pyramid. in doing so, my skin cleared up as an unexpected “side effect” i guess you could say. in addition to waking up every morning feeling like i just blazed up on something – energy out the wazoo – my skin purged itself.

i’ll go into my food and skin regimen soon enough, but for now, i wanted to share one of my staple, holy grail, never go a week without this product in my house, vegetables: the incredible KALE. it’s amazing! and my personal 10 minute recipe below is how i sometime spruce up this super food.
