i don’t watch a lot of t.v.. once i became a television producer, t.v. became dull and predictable but there are a few shows i do take the time out to watch when i’m not working. watching episodic shows does not happen often for me so i usually make it a feast chock full of snacks and fresh squeezed juice while my dinner is cooking in the oven. like most people, on the weekends, i eat, sleep, shop and watch dvr’d episodes of hoarders while screaming wildly at the t.v.: “this woman is as crazy as a bat! why does her husband have a hunch back from sleeping in the car and there are mushed up cats all over her house???!!!” i’ll throw my hands up in disbelief and sometimes a carrot and chunks of hummus that i’ve been snacking on will be dislodged from my fingers and go flying across the room, my dog going in for the scavenge before i can pick it up. my screaming is rhetorical but it makes me feel better. my s.o., as calmly as he always does, will look up from his 800 page book of the week and just gives me a serious side eye if i’m doing this while at his house. after the episode goes off, i’m often too nauseous to eat so i’ll go in the kitchen and clean the dishes with a lot of soap and bleach until i can barely breath from the fumes. i admit, i need an intervention for my hoarders addiction. so here i am, holding tight to my words to share a bit more of my world and what better way to kick this off than talking about one of my favorite subjects – shoes! i’ve been living between l.a. and n.y. for the last month; i sit in bed in brooklyn as i type this, and because i’ve been doing SO much traveling, i’ve found myself in need of new outfits constantly. during #nyfw i attended the rock and republic/kohl’s show, which i loved by the way – and i wanted to show up and show out. anything with “rock” in the title calls for an edgy and chic outfit, no? so i had to pull out the big guns which came in the form of these bawse and uber affordable, crystal studded booties. when i first started this blog, had you said to me that in a few years i’d be doing it full time, i probably would have laughed you under a table. at the time, the idea was nice, but surely not something that i thought was in my path. i loved sharing my tips and thoughts on all of the things i discovered while going natural, but blogging was a lot of work and in-between working long production days and enormous amounts of writers block, i didn’t know how long i could keep this up.
last year, as i broached 2012, i sat back to reflect on this blog’s upcoming anniversary and my transition from hobby blogger to full time. with a new year upon me and so many fresh ideas for the blog, i thought back on ways that i could make this space more personal and continue to enhance my experience in blogging while giving you more candid glimpses into my life – you know, so that you know i’m a real person and not some bald dude from uzbekistan going by the imaginary “second life-esque” guise of “kurlybella.” with almost three years under my belt, i can still count on one hand how many times [click to continue…]
for the last few years, my birthday has come and gone in a flash and unrecognizable blur. like the many years before, i find myself on set, on some studio lot, feet aching, running around like a chicken, waiting for my production day to end. that’s exactly how my birthday was last year; down to the wire working as late as ever with me celebrating in the office amongst the rest of the team toasting to my day with mini cupcakes fetched at the deli below our offices. but not this year. this year, i had no hand in any preparations, nor a t.v. show to attend to and my birthday weekend went off with out a hitch. i normally keep it 100% fashion and hair around here because well, that’s what the blog is all about. but since i’ve been having so much fun offline, i decided to share a little bit more about my life. i’m a very private person outside of my sisters and close girlfriends whom i treat like my sisters, so sharing things about my personal life besides work or blogging is a bit unusual and rare for me.
but you guys have been following and supporting me for a while now and i thought it would be a bit different to add a little twist to the blog by talking a little more about my personal life. though, full disclosure here! i could freak out over this decision in a day, month or whenever and delete all evidence to said twisting!
