WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR SPLITS AND BREAKAGE IS MID-SHAFT

I hate cutting my hair and I’ve avoided doing so for the last few years. However, recently I’ve been noticing little hairs around the bathroom with I finger detangle. I know they are coming from my ends so I know I have to get a trim which is not a problem. I’ve been using Aussie Split End Protector to help my ends. However, I’m also noticing longer hairs with no bulb and the top of the hair strand and where they are breaking it looks really thin like it was split. Is that even possible? My hair falls right above my waist and I don’t want to loose my length. I’m doing lots of deep conditioners but nothing is working. What am I doing wrong?! – Nicki

DEALING WITH HEAT DAMAGE FROM BLENDING WEAVE WITH YOUR NATURAL HAIR

“I wore sew-ins with a natural part while I transitioned for a couple of months. I did not know I was damaging my hair every time I used a flat iron to blend my natural hair with the extensions. When I cut my permed ends I was extremely disappointed to see that I had a ‘T’ shape patch of wavy hair in front of my head and tight curls in the back. Through the disappointment I learned to deal with the two different hair textures for a year. Now I would like to experience my hair naturally curly but I don’t want to do the big chop. I have tried so hard to find another option for transitioning from heat damage to natural but ended up with nothing. I don’t feel comfortable doing the big chop because the heat damage seems to go all the way to my root. I think I would have to go extremely low cut. Do you think it would be a good idea to perm my hair again and start over doing the transitioning from perm to natural hair process? Please Help!!” – Monet

FOUR KEY TIPS TO TAKING CARE OF YOUR CURLY HAIR WHEN TRAVELING ABROAD

“I am going to be out of the states for about 9 months for a job position in Tanzania. Considering the area I will be in does not have many resources, I am looking for the best long term style to keep my hair protected and growing? I will be in a village that more than likely will not have running water. Any suggestions?” – Paris

TIPS ON HOW TO MOISTURIZE AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR WHILE TRANSITIONING IN A SEW-IN WEAVE

“I decided to start transitioning in January and I’ve been following this site ever since. Prior to going natural, my hair was relaxed and I had the short Rihanna haircut so side bangs on the front and short/shaved at the back and the sides. You can imagine how painful it must be for me to transition because now my hair is in this weird state where the back in a full afro and the front is a mixture of the two and the sides which I shaved, and so regretting it now, is also an afro. Needless to say, this is not doing great things to my self-esteem. After moisturizing my hair, I can never find a style that I like and I end up wearing a tuque (beanie) or a hat. And so, I have been thinking about putting hair extensions in my hair but a lot of people told me not to right away and to find out my hair regimen first but I’m just not sure. What are your thoughts? The only problem is that whenever I wear a weave, I don’t really know how to wash my hair properly and what kind of product to put in my hair. Also, I had been thinking of doing a full weave since leaving your hair out might be damaging but then I am confused as to how your supposed to wash and take care of your own hair if your whole head is covered. Is that even possible?” – Sarah
