macadamia natural oil deep repair masque

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

okay, i’ll admit it. i’m a sucker for anything hair related. but not just any sucker. see, i have a very discerning eye and tastes, and just any old thing won’t do.

like many consumers, my eye is first drawn to a package by the way it looks. bright colors really do me in; as are most women. but i’m a well informed consumer and a black woman with kinky hair, so that bottle better be more than just a pretty package and the package had just be more than wipped fancy conditioner with overwhelming, luscious fragrance.

gimme plain ‘ole scentless coconut oil any old day over boo-boo trash  that smells like grapefruit in a glass bottle, thank you.

since i zoom past the superficial quite easily, my spidey sense quickly sniff out the good stuff. i’m like  a drug dog at the airport. what do we have here, shea? nope. coconut? nope. jojoba? nope…macadamia? ding, ding, we have a winner!!

folica has a new – at least to my knowledge -  product label on their shelves. a product which boast the “power” of macadamia nut.

samy hair masque

okay guys, i have to tell ya, i really, really tried to like this masque. i used it a few times, but in the end, i was always left feeling like something was missing.

i realized that it was MOISTURE! this stuff left my hair feeling stripped – that too clean feeling that NO ONE should ever experience.

i think the pj in me messed me up. my tryone biggums had me pick this up while i was in big lots. ugh, big lots, dollar store, they are all EVIL! you go in there with $10 to pick up a few things on your list and come out with stuff you don’t need. “omg! they have $1 charcoals!” when you ain’t even much got a dern grill!

i was supposed to be buying wrapping paper and picked up that paper annnnddd this masque. the smell is yummi – it reminds me of herbal essence, and the texture is thickish. not cantu shea butter thick, but thicker than regular conditioner.

i give this condish (5/5)

i love it! i can’t go to walmart or target without grabbing a bottle of this stuff.

it works well to moisturize my hair and leave it that way. often when you rinse out condish your hair goes back to “blah”, but not with this product. it’s cheap too and you can find it at your local grocery store, walmart or pharmacy.

i don’t use this as a leave in because it flakes on me and makes it looks like my hair is snowing when i fluff or touch my hair. but as a co-wash product it works really well.

i specifcially use moisture works since my hair needs moisture, moisture, moisture and it definately delivers in that area.

the bottle reads fortifying cream conditioner / moisture works.

usage: this is my staple conditioner. i use this up to twice a week, depending on my wash schedule.

i’m a conditioner hog like many naturals. i use about three squirts of a 50 cent piece to work through my hair (which i wash in twists). it smells fruity, and the scent lasts a few days. it’s a rich and thick conditioner.

i always soak my ends as this is the most damaged part of my hair. i keep single strands knots, so this helps to eleviate them.

i leave the conditioner in for the entire time i shower (i apply as soon as i get in, bathe, rinse my hair and then do one more round of body wash to remove any conditioner  that may have fallen on my shoulders or down my back), and then rinse well being sure to remove it all.

i also deep condition overnight with this conditioner. i wet my hair, slather this on, put my hair in twists and then put on a plastic cap and a scarf on top of the cap.

the best part about this conditioner is that it delivers on it’s promise – to fortify and condition.

i can really say my hair is stronger, my ends better and my hair SUPER moisturized from co-washing with this product.

if you use this conditioner, please share how it works for you.
