after much dismay with carol’s daughter products, i have found something that’s brought me a bit closer to the brand. i have to say, my kinky, coarse and fine hair is a bit finnikey and hair products that work for many get the boot from my hair. though i love the mimosa hair honey from carol’s daughter (LOVE that stuff), many of the other products from this line are a no-go for my hair, except their newly introduced hair milk. for the first time ever, a carol’s daughter hair product has been able to define my coils and leave my hair butter soft. i’m gonna say it – i really like this carol’s daughter hair milk the original curl definer!

i’ve been looking forward to the new lines/collections coming out of the house of carol’s daughter. to be honest, in the past, i never had much luck with carol’s daughter less the mimosa hair honey – which love! and now their new hair milk line – i’m really loving this stuff too (a review is coming soon). i’m excited to see the brand freshen up their esthetic and continue to work to create products that are a funky spin on healthy ingredients and effective products. carol’s daughter recently announced their new brand ambassadors, selita eubanks, solange knowles & cassie, in keeping with their new drive to make their brand all inclusive.
steve stout, chairman of the brand had this to say about the decision:
“What we’re doing now is moving into a polyethnic space. We want to be the first beauty brand that truly captures the beauty of the tapestry of skin types in America. When I say polyethnic, I mean women who are made up of several ethnicities. If you ask them what they are, they’re going to use a lot of different words to describe themselves. That’s in line with the Census data coming out — people are checking much more than two boxes. i remember when i was a little girl and my mom would style my hair with grease and water. yes, you read that right. she would sit me on the floor on a pillow from the couch, me resting with my back against the sofa while she proceeded to style my hair.
after being dipped in lukewarm water, the hardest plastic bristle brush in the house was used to brush my hair up – to this day i can still hear my edges, which miraculously stayed in tact, crying out for mercy. the cup, an oversized cup that someone in the house had brought home months earlier from some drive through upgrade special, and it’s faded words, were mine enemy! i hated that cup because when it came out, i KNEW what it meant and i hated that brush too!
