aw, g, you’re a tenderoni. and no, not the bobby brown kind either. i used to be uber tender-headed as a child though now not so much though i do have my moments. my sister on the other hand is so tender headed that she hardly lets anyone touch her hair including me. and i try to avoid it anyway. styling her hair is straight out of color purple. i mean, you simply look at her head hard and she starts to wince. to get around her tender ways however, she follows a few strict hair softening rules to keep her scalp and herself calm.

i love “ethnic” grocery stores. in my neighborhood, there are tons of them, more specifically armenian stores. i like to go in and snatch up the inexpensive produce that is just as good as my local regular priced grocery store and walk down the isles reading bottles or at least admiring the packing that is ornately designed with words i don’t understand.
a while back on a visit, i stopped by the honey section to admire the pretty gold packaging and jars filled with sweet, creamy goodness. my next stop was the milk and yogurt section to pick up my favorite greek yogurt. a lady next to me looked over at my selection and pointed out that not only was i buying her favorite brand to eat that it did wonders for her hair.
her comment was enough to get my mixtress ideas rolling and since i am a lover of all things yogurt and hair related, i came home to mix up a new, simple and interesting batch of creamy greek yorgurt goddess conditioner and this was the result.

the other day i was hanging out with a guy friend of mine and i noticed that he kept walking super close to me as we walked down the street. that’s strange for him since he never does that.
“what are you doing creepy mccreepster?”, i asked jokingly.
“nothing.”
five minutes later, there is he is standing over me and trying to pretend like he’s picking something out of my hair, “it’s your hair,” he said “man, it smells so good. i’m just trying to sneak some sniffs!” as he pressed his face down into the top of my afro and inhaled. [click to continue…]

cheapie conditioners don’t really work well on my hair. and when i say cheapie i mean the 1-2 dollar bottles like suave and vo5. they do okay, but it’s surely not anything to write home about or leave me impressed.
some naturals love these conditioners off the shelf, but they don’t really work that great for me out of the box so i have to amp them up to get the best punch. as a base however, these conditioners work great and can often be a great replacement for more expensive products that work at the same level once you mix in some goodies. it’s been a minute since i’ve ventured outside of the conditioner circle that i cherise – aussi moist and garnier moisture works – but while in whole paycheck the other night (whole foods for all of you who aren’t on) i saw a bottle of conditioner that i’d noticed a while back but put back down in lieu of another product.
now mind you, i had and still have a great, big, bottle of garnier sitting in my shower but tyrona biggums got the best of me and my inner pj made me buy this conditioner.
at first squeeze, i realized [click to continue…]

um, no. this stuff does not like my hair and my hair does not like it. i don’t know what happened between the last time i used this and now. i feel like it’s a cheap version of a wanna be aveda product. i tried my best to like this conditioner, but it keeps disappointing me. this stuff did a complete 180 on my hair every time i tried to use it after the first time.
it felt very sulfatish on my hair and made me feel like [click to continue…]
