| b asks: First of all, I absolutely LOVE your blog! It helps me so much with my natural hair journey. I had a quick question though. I am currently wearing sew-ins because I play sports in college & managing my hair with it sweating & the heat from the weather is unbearable. Lately my scalp has been itching HORRIBLY, to the point where I have scratched my head & I now have sores. I want to know what natural products I can use to keep this from happening or if I should just take my sew in out completely. Help me please. |
b, i’m sorry you are experiencing scalp sores. i used to get them when I was a kid and they were the bain of my 6 year old existence! tons of sulfur 8 and whatever else my mom could slather on my head that she thought would help my scalp. *shudders at thought*
if i were you, the first thing i would do is to remove that sew in. sweat plus corn rows plus tracks plus real SPORTS can be a horrid combination. i remember when i was in high school and we had an away basket ball game. i was in line to get on the bus – in my cheer skirt of course – my basket ball skills are scary as in bad – and one of the team players, a girl who wore these crochet braids was a head of me. she turned her head my way to say something and the strongest hurricane and tornado blend of mildew came off of her head. i felt so bad for her! all of those hours of practice and pounds of sweat, dirt and debris had started to make her scalp germ city and even though she always washed her hair after the games, she was still left with, well, funk.
