i have owned my sedu flatiron since 2005. i’m five years in and i still love it.

i purchased my sedu iron because i was searching for a way to straighten my hair and not burn it out with an unprotected, uncoated, unevenly heated, traditional, “gold ‘n hot”, flatiron.

i remember the first pass through my hair. hair that was not even freshly washed and filled with 4 or 5 day old curly pudding. a-ma-zing! i couldn’t believe it. i’d seen all the reviews but for the sedu online – i remember spending hours reading them and staring at photos – but to actually have it work on my coarse hair was a dream. i mean i was hopeful and *thought* it would, but as a kinky girl, you just never know.

i was in love and immediately emailed every female in my address book. subject line: “you have got to get one of these flatirons!”

now i only use my sedu 2-3 times a year, up to 5 times if i get excited about pressing, but when i do i’m always left with the same results – silky, “swanging”, bone straight, blowing in the wind or if someone breaths on it, hair.

ironically enough, it was the sedu that helped me to break my hair off in the beginning of my natural journay. actually the sedu was the innocent bystander, or should i say an unwilling accomplice to my self inflicted heat straightening abuse, but since i’ve learned my lesson and have been using heat correctly and practicing healthy hair habits for the last three years, i no longer worry about doing damage to my hair and feel secure when pressing with the sedu.

description:

Rated the Best Hair Straightener on the market and preferred by top hair stylists around the world, Sedu flat iron straightens, smoothes and tames frizzy or rebellious hair for long-lasting results. Sedu’s patented ultra-smooth ceramic/tourmaline plates guarantee smooth straightening motion without pulling or breaking of hair. 1 inch plate size gives added control, ideal for short to medium hair.

i love this iron and feel it’s worth the $100 price tag.

i own the .5″ version and love the way it handles, the long cord, heat safe carrying case, and 30 second complete heat up.

though i don’t always, i’ve used my sedu on 410 and have not experienced any heat damage while at this temperature and while also using a heat protectant.

five years later, i still don’t regret my purchase and highly recommend this flatiron.

do you have a sedu? how are you liking your iron?

like most naturals, my straightening tools are just as important as my maintenance tools. straightening natural hair can have it’s challenges, but it can also be a breeze. luckily, i’ve passed the “challenging” phase of my hair care routine and it’s all a breeze now, litterally.

one of the things i MUST do is straighten my hair while it’s cool. so i always sit on the floor in front of my mirror with the fan blowing near me. not directly on me, but close enough to keep my scalp dry. i’ll easily sweat out a section i’d just finished if i’m not careful and this leaves me fustrated because i don’t want to have to do the section over again!

i use a sedu as my straightner + heat protectant, which for me is a must. not using a heat protectant gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. *shudders*

i’ve had my flatiron since 2005 and it’s still working like new, so i’m tryng to turn off the urge to go out an by another one – something i don’t need.

ceramic and or ionic is the WAY TO GO. anything else, IMO, is just not going to give you that silky hair and safely straightened hair like ceramic and or ionic does.

here are some suggestions for you:
