and, i got them all from kmart.

last week, i was out looking for curtains  – quite unsuccessfully – to buy for my bedroom makeover when i got tired of searching. there was a kmart next door to the linen store i was at so i walked over the kmart to see what old girl martha may have had curtain wise that i would find appealing. nothing. she had nothing.

but kmart, like target and walmart, has an awesome makeup selection.

so, i picked up some goodies!

• 2 wet and wild blushes: mellow wine #833E and berry shimmer #834E
• 1 wet and wild lip gloss in 570A (a bronzy dark peach)
• 1 tropez blush: sweet cheeks #35302
• 3 tropez lipsticks (from bottom up in the swatch photo): 22527 (a dark brown), 22508 (a goldish peach), 22537a alight shimmery pink; the second removed cousin of mac’s creme de la femme

the kicker of this purchase was the lipsticks. they were all $1.00 and go on creamy like high end brands. they also have very strong color pigments!

i picked up the brown for fun so that i can try a look with a bold brown lip and neutral face – very vintage.

i do love my staple products. and though i’m what you could call “picky” about my hair products and what i use to treat my kinky, coils, i’m a lot more flexible when it comes to makeup. for me, makeup is a time to play and have fun and invoke your inner picasso!

while you can often find me circling the beauty isles at cvs, walgreens or one of my favorite places to buy makeup, walmart, picking up new items, there will always remain those staple items that i consider holy grail – that is, if they start to fail me! but these drugstore products so far have yet to let me down and after years of wear, i KEEP going back and continue to keep these items stocked in my bag.

these are my current and constant holy grails drugstore products…

though i’m not a die hard mac fan – more of a seasonal one (seasonal = when i’m in the mood for makeup, not makeup determines my moods), i love their fun collections.

i don’t wear anything from the line for the face (too drag queenish and too heavy, imo) but i always do eye shadows and lipsticks. i think lillyland is going to appeal to all mac fans, from the hard core to the noobies. because of the colors – the soft, deep, pastels, these colors are easy to wear with any outfit or look, or to incorporate into any makeup collection.

granted, pastels can be a bit hard to pull off if you are too dark or too light, so those who fall in the middle of the skin color spectrum do have an advantage; however, these colors will work great on any skin because of the strong pigment. there are no ashy pinks here!

and the blushes are cream. cream means lasting power annnddd that you can also wear them on your lips – unless the package states otherwise. but i’m willing to bet that they won’t.

santa will be doing a night layover at mac counters everywhere to give surprises to all the girls and boys who wait patiently until December 26.
