i’ve noticed a trend in natural hair. we go natural and we grow our hair and for many that’s it. for many of us, the goal is to grow our hair as long as possible and the thought of getting our hair layered or shaped up is the last thing on our minds even more so than a pixie cut.

just like any other hair style – less updo styles or twist and braids – hair looks best when shaped to fit your face and flatter your features. if you just have gobs of natural hair just sitting on your head, it could be doing nothing for you or worse, working against you. halle berry is a natural that knows what works for her and her signature style – the pixie cut – brings out the most in her face. i know the pixie cut isn’t for everyone, but there is something about having your hair cut to your face – no matter the length – that works well.

eva is another natural who has chosen a short pixie cut to flatter her face and features and enhances her look in a way that her long wavy hair did not. and you don’t have to go pixie and blonde; it just so happens that both eva and carly are blonde by choice.

i’ve been contemplating cutting my hair into a style that will flatter my face. i don’t think i’d mine short hair at all and might actually prefer it and i can’t even believe i’m writing that. hmmm…we’ll see.
