rihanna recently released her video for california king bed. when i first heard the title i couldn’t image exactly what she would be singing about in reference to an over-sized bed.
i appreciate the common notion that she is singing about – loosing the one you love while they are right under your nose. breakups are never easy and as she describes her and her soon-to-be-ex’s exit out of love, you get the feeling from her words that she is truly suffering from this parting – torn between vulnerability and a facade of strength. i love this song! did i say i love this song? the beat, the hype williams video cinematography magic which took an small budget and pushed that baby to the max, the simple and addictive hook by rihanna. kanye murdered it on this track and this video is exactly what this song needed.
