rihanna recently released her video for california king bed. when i first heard the title i couldn’t image exactly what she would be singing about in reference to an over-sized bed.

i appreciate the common notion that she is singing about – loosing the one you love while they are right under your nose. breakups are never easy and as she describes her and her soon-to-be-ex’s exit out of love, you get the feeling from her words that she is truly suffering from this parting – torn between vulnerability and a facade of strength.

i love this song! did i say i love this song? the beat, the hype williams video cinematography magic which took an small budget and pushed that baby to the max, the simple and addictive hook by rihanna. kanye murdered it on this track and this video is exactly what this song needed.

this is the kind of song that when i’m hanging out with friends in a lounge or club, i’m jumping up immediately and snapping and rocking my body to all night. of course our girl rhi is near nekkid so can’t cop her outfit, but it did inspire me, along with the song to put an outfit together that channels the flyness that is “all of the lights.”

in my head, a safer way to do rihanna’s “all of the lights” look and still channel the feel and energy of kayne’s song is to go with a safer bandage top that has much more coverage of course. no nip slips and wardrobe malfunctions here. and to grown lady this up, you could rock a pair of high waisted light denim pants, and pop on blinging earrings that give you light reflecting colors. if you want to cover up at the end or middle or even beginning of the night, incorporate a sheer cardigan that goes with the ensemble without taking away from that boss bandage top.

okay, my skeletons are out of the closet. i’m a smoker and i’m proud. yeah, i said it! and not only am i proud, i’m a smoke pusha!

don’t sleep on the smoke, bellas. i used to be scared of the smokey eye. a LOT can go wrong during application – so much so that if you are not careful, you could end up looking like you just left a bar fight and that my dears is a big fat no BUENO. but if you get the smoke right, then you will look smokin’ hot!

really nice smokey eye combinations are blacks and blues as well as blacks and cremes and black or brown with punches of light color, my personal fave. however, the key to keeping the smoked out look as pristine as possible and on your lids and off the rest of your face is to set your lids with a primer. this is a must for a look like this because if you don’t, you will have creasy, greasy eyes on your hands. i love urban decay primer potion and use it as my holy grail primer. but two faced has a primer as well, their shadow insurance, as does, nyx.

when it comes to the smokey eye look, there are a few stars that have this look on lock. rihanna is a smokey eye lover and mixes her looks up from dark smoke to a combination of dark and light, and love her or hate her, kim kardashian is the queen of the smokey eye look. her eye game is the bizness.

as an artist, rihanna has recently grown on me, but as a stylish woman, i’ve always been a fan since she mixed it up and is dressing in her “true self” as she says. i love how her stylist clothes her and mixes edgy pieces with soft touches like pearls and antique broaches. i’m also a fan of how her manicurist makes sure she keeps some of the best claws in the game!

in her “what’s my name” video, rihanna rocked some mean nail paint in blue and orange. the color that stood out the most to me was her essie bright tights, an electric burst of creamy orange.

i’m loving rihanna’s orange nails. i have an orange from essie, but it’s not this orange. i have mini shorts, which is what i thought this was, but found out through krissy that it is not. my color is a summer time neon bright which came in my mini nail polish set from essie – a favorite brand of rihanna’s.

this song is definitely reminiscence of summer which makes me wonder why they released it so late. nonetheless, i’m feeling the vibe of it though the only words i know are “what’s my name”!
